Page Keeley is an internationally recognized leader in science education, best known for developing the Uncovering Student Ideas in Science series and the Formative Assessment—Practical Strategies Linking Assessment, Instruction, and Learning series (the "FACTs books"). Her pioneering work in understanding student thinking and teaching for conceptual understanding began in 1992, leading to the widespread adoption of her assessment probes and formative assessment techniques by educators globally. Today, she works as an independent consultant, speaker, and author, providing professional development on science and STEM formative assessment.

Keeley taught middle and high school science for 15 years, during which she was honored with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Secondary Science Teaching (1992) and the Milken National Distinguished Educator Award (1993). In 2008, she was elected the 63rd President of the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA), the world's largest organization of K-12, university, and informal science educators. She has also received numerous awards for her leadership in science education professional development.

Keeley holds a B.S. in Life Sciences/pre-veterinary studies and an M.Ed in Science Education. Beyond her professional achievements, she enjoys travel, photography, equestrian sports, and exploring nature with her four grandchildren. She and her husband reside in Fort Myers, Florida, and spend summers in Wickford, Rhode Island.

$225 Early Bird registration (Open of registration to 10/3/2025) 

$150 Presenter registration (through 9/19/2025)

$100 Pre-service teacher rate with luncheon (through 10/3/2025)

$75 Pre-service teacher rate with NO LUNCH (through 10/3/2025)

$250 Day of Conference rate (opens 10/16/25)

Refund policy:

9/15: 9/30: 80% of payment will be refunded

10/1: 10/9: 50% of payment will be refunded

10/10: 10/16: 30% of payment will be refunded

10/16: 10% of payment will be refunded

10/18: no refund will be made

** Note: If a teacher cancels and their payment was made by their school system, it is the school system who will receive the refund after they invoice the TSTA directly (not the teacher).





submit a proposal for tsta's 2025 conference

The Tennessee Science Teachers Association (TSTA) is hosting its annual Conference and Professional Development Institute at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Thursday through Saturday, October 16-18, 2025.

This year's theme is Golden Jubilee: 50 Years of Innovative Science Education with a focus on the following three strands:
  • The Golden Standards: the standards that will be used in teaching and assessments.
  • The Golden Framework: instructional practices that meet the needs of every learner.
  • The Golden Frontier: innovate, collaborate, and interact with the world.

More descriptive details pertaining to each strand can be found below.

The format for the conference will vary each day and conference registration includes all 3 days.

  • Thursday, Oct.16th:  3-hour workshops before and after lunch
  • Friday, Oct. 17th:  Presenter sessions in 50-minute and 15-minute speed sharing blocks running from 8:00-4:00
  • Saturday, Oct. 18th: Half-day Standards/HQIM Workshop organized by Grade Bands 

Educators from all grade levels—pre-kindergarten through higher education—and Informal Educators are invited to come and share best practices, ideas, and activities with fellow teachers. We encourage you to submit a session proposal to be a presenter at the conference.
